Ziauddin Ahmed, M.D.FASN

He is a Professor of Medicine and Nephrology, Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Temple University, Philadelphia and Professor Emeritus, Drexel University College of Medicine, Philadelphia.

He was graduated from Dacca Medical College, Bangladesh.  He has earned   board certifications in 5 specialties. He has trained hundreds of medical students,  medical residents,  Nephrology  fellows ,MPH and PhD students.

He was founding member and President of Bangladesh Medical Association of North America. He is also founder editor of BMANA newsletter and Webpage. 

He was president of Bangladesh Association of Delaware valley (a tristate organization of Philadelphia, South Jersey and Delaware established in 1971) in 1989-91, convener of 3rd National Bengali Poetry conference of USA in 1997, vice chairman of Kazi Nazrul Islam Conference committee (established in 1990) .  He is one of the organizers of Bangladesh 1971 Genocide conference at Kean University , NJ, He is the chairman of Physician panel of Bangladesh Environmental Network (BEN), vice chairman of distressed children and infant international USA. He has created many documentaries including of history of Bengali poetry , biography of Rabndronath Thakur, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Jibonando Das, Shukanto , Lalon Fakir, Hason Raja, Moulana Bhashani, Bangladesh liberation war in USA etc. He was convener of Muktodhara Boi Mela in 2013 and Chairman of Muktodhara Foundation from 2017 to 2019.

He served as convener of  many national and international symposiums in Bangladesh. He started Continuous Peritoneal dialysis program, established first Infection control  program and  emergency medicine training program, Initiated  Medical education seminar and training jointly with USA based FAIMER/ECFMG. He was USA coordinator of First Non Resident Bangladeshi  convention in 2007. He is the president and founder of Kidney Foundation Sylhet  a non profit Kidney center which is providing dialysis free to 30% patients and with minimum cost to others. Recently Kidney foundation Sylhet has started two Corona isolation and treatment centers and also supporting other districts and regions to organize  corona isolation centers.  He had received many awards in Bangladesh and USA including award  for excellent teaching ,Drexel university President’s silver medal award for community service in 2008, Global health award ,Chairman of Bangladesh Red cross award for improving health care in Bangladesh, life time achievement award of Bangladesh Medical Association of North America , He has received prestigious Ellis island Medal of honor in 2018 for significant contribution to improve the life of people and society  in USA and native country in Bangladesh.
