Suswana Chowdhury

Suswana Chowdhury is a first generation Bengali-American raised in Queens, NY. She graduated with a journalism degree from Baruch College. Suswana works full time as a video and audio producer at J.P. Morgan and independently dedicates her time to develop projects that give a voice to the hidden. She has always had a passion for the arts starting with her love for dance and training in bharatanatyam with Kakan Jamil of the New York Jago Art Center. Recently Suswana worked with Jhal NYC to spotlight her rich Bengali culture and heritage on the big screen bringing to life the short film, Dawat. She is also devoted to helping children across the world in developing villages have better access to opportunities and break the cycle of poverty. Since studying at Townsend Harris High School she has worked with WE Charity to build a clean water system in Ecuador and a school in Haiti. Suswana is currently building a school in Rajasthan, India and has hosted multiple sold out benefit galas, concerts and comedy shows with media partners, top tier talent and special guests including several Bengali-American artists. After completion of this project she plans to start working on community development in Bangladesh next and will also continue creating films that increase the representation of Bengali-Americans in the mainstream media.
